Last Monday on my way to work, I noticed these bills that were posted in walls and posts along Makati that said: ‘Sigaw ng Bayan! Support CHA-CHA! GMA Forever!’ (or something to that effect). The message of the bill confused me. First, I don’t know if it’s the Pro-Gloria or the Opposition group who posted that. Although it said ‘Support CHA-CHA’, the ‘GMA Forever’ part is very suspicious. I think that if the Pro-Gloria wants the people’s support; they don’t want the people to think that GMA will still be the leader of the country after the CHACHA. It’s as if the group who posted this is trying to use reverse psychology of some sort so that the people won’t support it.
The case is similar with all these media and activist killings that have been happening lately. As of the moment, no one has been apprehended for the said political killings. Who are the ones responsible for all of these? Is it the Pro-Gloria, the Opposition or the leftists groups?
Thinking about it, all three have to gain. The Opposition and the leftist groups might be doing this to destabilize the government. On the other hand, the government might be doing this to silence the activists. The government can get away with it because they can. And if someone suspects them, they’ll just play the card that they are the obvious party to blame and doing it would be a suicide.
We are living in critical times and we must be vigilant. It’s hard to discern the truth nowadays. It seems that all of them want to forward their own interests. It’s hard to choose which side we should be. Should we just settle for the lesser evil or stand for what we believe? If we want to take a stand, is this the right time or must we wait till it all becomes clear? We may not want answer these questions right now but eventually we will have to.
