Got My Continuum!
Music, Review, Weblogs September 12th, 2006I just picked up my copy of John Mayer’s latest album Continuum. I pre-ordered it a few weeks ago and got a free poster and a shirt as a bonus =). It was released yesterday but only got the chance to pick it up this evening. As soon as I got home, I gave it a spin and listened to all the songs. At first listen I liked it right away. It met my expectations… simply good music. (I’m giving the record a second spin as I write this)
So what’s the deal with me and Mr. John Mayer? Well, aside from good tunes; I’m a sucker for poetic lyrics. What I like about him is that he writes introspectively. Many of his songs are about examining the inner struggles. And since I’m basically an introvert, I can relate to them.
Here are some of the lyrics from his new album:
No, I’m not the man I used to be lately
See, you met me at an interesting time
And if my past is any sign of your future
You should be warned before I let you inside.
[I Don't Trust Myself]
I’ll never know what makes this man
With all the love that his heart can stand
Dream of ways to throw it all away
[Gravity]
So scared of getting older
I’m only good at being young
So I play the numbers game
To find a way to say that life has just begun
[Stop This Train]
